Villaverde

Villaverde is among the districts with the lowest rents in Madrid city and one that most clearly retains its industrial origins. Converted warehouses, industrial estates and a fabric of workers' housing blocks from the 1950s to 1970s define the district's urban landscape. In recent years, improvement projects for green spaces and public areas have been undertaken, though the impact is still partial and the overall urban fabric has yet to complete its transformation.

Day-to-day life covers the basics: supermarkets, schools, health centres and neighbourhood commerce are present, though the offer is more limited than in more central districts. Green spaces have improved with recent interventions, particularly around the Manzanares meadows. Nightlife is almost non-existent: there is no reference dining or bar axis in the district. Its own cultural offer is very limited.

Transport scores a medium. Cercanías lines C-3 and C-4 connect Villaverde with Atocha and the central axis. The metro reaches the area via line 3 (Villaverde Alto, San Cristóbal, Villaverde Bajo-Cruce, Ciudad de los Ángeles). However, frequency in some parts of the district is lower and not all points have comfortable access to the network.

Villaverde is a valid option only for those who place price as the absolute criterion and are prepared to accept its limitations: low safety in some areas, a virtually non-existent leisure offer and an urban fabric that has not yet completed its transformation. It is not the right choice for families who prioritise environmental quality or young residents who value neighbourhood life.
